Time to open up your windows — spring is here! It is very important that you continue to maintain and upkeep cleaning your windows each spring as it can help with preventing damage due to scratching/etching and can extend the quality and lifespan of your windows for years to come. Windows are an essential part of any building, they are one of the first impressions people get of your home or office.

Natural and Cost-Efficient Cleaning Products

One of the easiest ways to clean windows is to mix vinegar & water as the cleaning spray. Some commercial window cleaner can leave a very fine wax residue, if you find your windows are streaky when using vinegar and water mixture it is a result of the waxy finish. If you add a dash of dish soap to the mixture it will remove the buildup. Here’s a good recipe to try:

Combine 1/4 cup vinegar, 1/2 teaspoon liquid soap or detergent, and 2 cups of water in a spray bottle. Shake to blend and spray on your windows!

Clean All Grooves

One of the best ways to clean any grooves is to start by vacuuming the window area to get rid of any extra dust or dirt. Then you want to take a small brush (or toothbrush) with a mixture of water. vinegar and soap to really clean out the window channels. Once you have completed this you can use an aerosol lubricant to loosen up the channels and locks. This is one of our best tips on cleaning your windows, so they really look their best!

The Importance Of Lubricating Any Hardware

When cleaning hardware, use a diluted cleaning solution and make sure that the area being lubricated is fully dry. It’s also important to lubricate regularly to avoid additional wear. To keep in mind hinges and sliding doors/windows should usually be lubricated with a non-stick silicone-based lubricant.
